Mercantia - Twentieth anniversary of Street Artists

In the fantastic medieval town of Certaldo (Florence) will held the twentieth street artist festival. Is not a symple festival but is a real Theatre in the streets of Certaldo: internationaland italian artist will meet in Certaldo to create the most important street festival in Europe.

Among the many shows, parades include the street, with street theater groups and bands including: Teatro dei Venti, “Malaparata, seven women and one monk leading the last of heretics at the end of the process of inquisition, but the auto da fé, the public admission of guilt, it turns into a deep and ironic J’Accuse to our society; atmo, “Priscilla”, kitsch parade “en travesti” on the background of the music of legendary Abba, ironic and funny show, played by means of fans, parasols, and ostrich boa;

Very important is the international presence: the Mini-Dlin Marionettes from Russia with “Surprise”, a new show without words performed by 30 large, complex and comical puppets ; Los Filonautas Germany with “shipwrecked by choice,” the adventures of a raft built with pipes and cables of steel; Hado Ima & Watinoma from Burkina Faso with “The Moon of the Sahel”, music, dance and songs from Africa Sub-Saharan Africa who come to roots of the blues, born from Africa; Aryaluna, dances and music from Argentina, and dances with the fire of Israeli Fire Fingers.

Also is present the best Italian craft with a lot of stands ere you can see how an craftsman works.

PISA - Palazzo Blu: Art and Science in Galileo’s Time; 140 works until July 19

FLORENCE - Medici Chapels: show on life and times of Ferdinand I de’ Medici, powerful third grand duke of Tuscany, (1549-1609), marking 400th anniversary of his death; until November 1.

- Bargello: Gian Lorenzo Bernini, The Living Marbles; until July 12.

- Palazzo Strozzi: Galileo show marking 400th anniversary of his first observations of the night sky; 250 exhibits including the middle finger from Galileo’s right hand; until August 30.

- Palazzo Pitti: Memories of Antiquity in 20th-Century Art; 130 paintings and sculptures from Etruscan, classical and Renaissance times and 20th-century works by Dali’, Picasso, Modigliani, de Chirico and others; until July 12.

Giovanni Allevi Live in Pisa

Exceptional concert at Pisa. The most italian pianist Giovanni Allevi will hold a concert in Pisa at Piazza dei Cavalieri the next 25th of July.

This is a special concert out the normal activities live that is characterized by the “international live” and the Itlian concert with the “Symphonic Concerts” with orchestra, made in Italy.

Florence Youth Festival now in Florence

European Youth festival now is playing in Florence unitl 29th of July.

The International Festival of European Youth Orchestras started in the year 1999 thanks to the EU grant Kaleidoscope ‘99 and to the longstanding relationship between Accademia San Felice the Town Hall of Florence, the Regione Toscana, the Province of Florence, the European Commission, and many other Municipalities in Tuscany, Umbria and Marche.

The aim of the Festival is to offer young European musicians a unique experience in Italy, with the chance to play in magnificent venues and to participate in an intense experience and full immersion of classical and contemporary music.

Toscana Museum - Archaeologics nigths

Le Notti dell’Archeologia is an event founded in 2001 by the ‘Amat and the Tuscany region, with the collaboration of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany, in order to bring as many people as possible to archeology, making it more familiar and available to the general public a wealth of fascinating, but often obscure and not easily understandable. An event that links the opening night, in over 100 museums and archaeological sites in Tuscany, exhibitions, film archaeological events, guided tours, hiking trails on archaeological, educational workshops for young and old, like games, concerts, dinners inspired by food old and basically, the biggest festival of archeology that takes place in Italy and Europe. VII This edition provides a central theme around which will develop initiatives for the occasion dall’AMAT: The ancient streets of Etruria. A common thread that will be the route for the area in search of ancient Etruscan roads through exhibitions, lectures, museums and pathways also targeted trekking on the ancient paths and tracks that united the Etruscan centers between themselves and with neighboring populations.

Florence view by the students of the Florence’s Faculty of Architecture. Photos are the result of a project inside the University of Florence called “Università in Piazza” (In Piazza Faculty).

When? Thursday June 25 until Sunday, July 5, will be held “in Piazza Faculty 2009″. It ‘an event conducted by students of architecture, which includes initiatives related to architecture and design, “scattered” in particular areas and squares in the historic center of Florence.

What? Exhibitions, images, music, shows with and for the architecture by Scalzo slaughterhouse.

Where? The events will be held in Largo Annigoni, Piazza Santo Spirito and Piazza della Signoria.

The Battle of The Bridge in Pisa

The last Sunday of June is a very important event in Pisa. Is the end of the Pisan June. This importan day is celebrate by two important events: The Battle of the Bridge (”Il Gioco del Ponte”) and the historical parade around the city with over 700 partecipants.

What is the Battle of the Bridge?

Is a historical battle betwen the two banks of the river: Mezzogiorno and Tramontana.

The Tramontana side is the est part of Pisa and is the zone of Borgo Stretto, Piazza dei cavalieri and more. In this part you find six “team”: Satiri, Santa Maria, Mattaccini, S. Francesco, Calci, San Michele.

The Mezzogiorno reperesent the other bank of the river (Corso italia, Via San Martino, San Antonio) and again you find six “team”: Delfini, Dragoni, S. Marco, S. Antonio, Leoni, San Martino.

The name’s teams came from the medieval age.

Victory goes to the team that conquers the Bridge by pushing the cart and all the opponents to the opposite end of the sliding rail.

June in Pisa - Luminara Night

Today is San Ranieri. San Ranieri is the Pisa’s holy city and around the city you can see a lot of people that visit the town’s monuments. Today there are a sort of market ’s antiques in the center of the city. Near Piazza dei Cavalieri and the leaning tower.

Is a very important day, beacuse is the most important festivity in June: the city of Pisa in june organize the “Giugno Pisano“: is a festival at Pisa whit a lot of events like exhibitions, concerts and mor…

The city is alive because all the students finish the examinations and leaving in the evening, and there are a lot of people in the edge of the Arno river (also called “Le Spallette“) that looking for some fresh after a log hot day.

The bares put tables in the centrals places and you can enjoy the magic atmosphere of Pisa.

The night beetween 16th - 17th of June there is the most important feast of the year in Pisa: La Luminara. About 100.000 people are in the street to view this amazing light show: all the palaces and the bridge near the Arno are illuminated by 70.000 candels set in glasses to exalt the outline of the palaces, the bridges, the churches and the tower reflecting the river.
